Located just north of Kelowna or west of Kamloops in BC Canada, Welcome to the spectacular Shuswap Lake.


Shuswap Lake Area

The 123 square mile lake with approximate 200 miles of shoreline offers endless opportunity for a wide variety of activities on the water. Western Canada's ultimate summer paradise the Shuswap area is also a fabulous winter playground or retreat. Visitors choose fishing, water skiing, wake boarding, house boating, seagoing and just relaxing out on the lake as popular Shuswap activities.

The area has both a wide variety of amenities and vast natural areas provide endless recreational opportunities. From golfing, hiking and biking to snow shoeing and snowmobiling.

A fabulous variety of accommodation Shuswap area offers many great vacation rentals, hotels, motels, cottage rentals, cabin rentals, family or adult oriented resorts. including . There are also many quaint bed and breakfast hideaways located in and around our area. Situated around Shuswap Lake are many services oriented for the travelling public the lake and lakefront setting attracts. There are full service marinas with boat sales, boat service, boat rentals, water toy sales and rentals. There are some great restaurants and pubs around the lake some accessible by boat, which can add to the fun of a afternoon out on a great sunny summer Shuswap Lake day.

Shuswap Lake Special Places

Shuswap Lake Provincial Park in Scotch Creek is a great place to have a picnic, enjoy the beach, go for a special hike or camp overnight. Copper island is also included as part of the park, it can only be reached by boat but once you are there there are trails around the Island and Up to the peak, for spectacular Lake views.

Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park between Squilax and Scotch Creek is located about 10 minutes off the Trans Canada Highway on the Squilax - Anglemont Highway. This highway can be accessed from about the 1/2 way point between Salmon Arm and Kamloops. The Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park is a special natural and historical area. Contained within the park is the Adams River which is a major Sockeye Salmon spawning area. There are many years when the salmon come home to the place they were born to spawn and complete their life cycle. In particular once every 4 years during the last 3 weeks of October there is a dominant run of the Sockeye which is a spectacular event turning the river red with the returning salmon.

Albas Falls Located at the north end of Seymour Arm on the west side. Has road access to the top end. There is a trail that begins near Steamboat Bay follows Celesta Creek upstream approximately 1.5 km, then crosses the creek and returns to the lake. There is a series of spectacular waterfalls and many interesting natural and historical features. A fairly remote area with abundant wildlife.

Herald Provincial Park is located 14 km east of the Trans Canada Hwy. from Tappen, BC. It is on the west shore of the Salmon Arm. The cities, towns and communities of Salmon Arm, Tappen, Canoe and Sorrento are close by.

Salmon Arm The Shuswap Lake area is complimented by the services and amenities contained in the city of Salmon Arm. From urban parks and the waterfront area to banks, shops and restaurants Salmon Arm serves as the hub of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District.

Sicamous As the “Houseboat Capital of Canada”, with availability of over 200 rental houseboats Sicamous is the eastern gateway to the Shuswap and Mara Lakes.

Flume Trail This special historical hike takes you back in time to explore the early lumbering and lumber transport methods, relics of a bygone era. This is located between the Squilax - Anglemont Highway and the Adams Lake.

Anstey Arm Visit this small settlement at the end of the lake a great boat outing. There are picnic sites, camping spots and hiking trails in the area.

Cinnemousun Narrows Provincial Park Located where the four arms of the Shuswap Lake Meet. This boat in park is great for a day picnic outing or overnight lake side camping.

Bind Bay In the western most arm or the Shuswap Arm there are often calm waters to be found in this tranquil inlet.
